Narrative Building and Research

When we finalized our conceptual thinking and building, we needed to build a narrative. We had a whole session with Kate tutoring us about narrative, and mythmaking through performance.

This session was essential to our development, as Kate really pushed us too look into mythmaking, narrative construction. It inspired us to research imediately into mythmaking and myths. We went to the Library and extracted texts such as the Philosophy of enchantment, Or again Women who Run among the wolves, in order to find or construct our own myth related to our concept.

Our concept was build on water and its connection to the human body, the intertwining of both of them we started researching myths about feminine power and its relation to water. This made me want to research and read the book “Women Who Run Among the Wolves: Contacting the Power of the Wild Woman by Dct. Clarissa Pinkola Estés, I hadn’t read it before by my mother had advised it to me and I started exploring the myths connecting women to water. Clarissa Pinkola Estes’s essays really helped me deepen my understanding og the connection of women to the bodies of water river, to their creative flow and infinite source of life “Each woman has potential access to Rio Abajo Rio, this river beneath the river. She arrives there through deep meditation, dance, writing, painting, prayermaking, singing, drumming, active imagination, or any activity which requires an intense altered consciousness. A woman arrives in this world-between-worlds through yearning and by seeking something she can see just out of the corner of her eye. She arrives there by deeply creative acts, through intentional solitude, and by practice of any of the arts.” However it was more conceptual thinking again, theorizing our ideas and cementing them, and less building a narrative

We had multiple paths, such as Rusalka an opera written by Dvoràck (“a water spirit, lives with her family in the pure waters of the forest lake. When she falls in love with a Prince, she sacrifices her voice and leaves her home in the hope of finding true love in a new world – a world that does not love her back.”), one of the versions of the Little Mermaid tales (they are many), I wasn’t inspired by this one because the women sacrifices herself and her aquatic surrounding, it is the contrary of the story of creation, fertility and feminine power we were looking, we also looked into Maria Von Franz’s essays that are focused on the feminine in fairy tales and in the interpretation of fairy tales, but it was again more conceptual development for us and less narrative construction. We decided that we needed to construct the narrative ourselves. We brought together all those myths that inspired us and started with those main points: woman as a creative deity, source of all creation and world building, women as a water being, giving birth to all form of life and our world. We then took all those points, and brought them to chat GPT and trained it until the AI device wrote for us the myth we wanted. (see eg.) We then took this myth and started re writing it in our way, taking out what we did not like, adding on aspects that Chat GPT did not explore, and created our narrative, our own myth portraying our conceptual thinking. The Tryptich, the Water as a feminine form of creation, maternity, the mother daughter relation ship. Worldbuilding, Expansion, Motherhood.

- Martina then wrote properly our script narrative and actual narrative (she took the small basis chat gpt gave us, and developed it exactly who we wanted it) - only the introduction is coming from the myth chat gpt wrote us

AI writing allowed us to have a condensed version of water creation myths, and then for us to extract the best bits and write our own script, our own myth, this experience was very successful and allowed us to structure our narrative through chapters and later on, build or sound, projections and choreography on the narrative.
